Rotary Australia Repurposing Equipment (RARE, formally Donations In Kind) in SA operates a warehouse in Edinburgh. It takes materials and equipment from hospitals, nursing homes and corporates to send overseas to needy communities. Rotary assists in raising funds to cover transport costs, as well as helping to maintain, sort and pack items.
RARE is part of Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS).
RCWL heartily supports the continuing work of RARE, firstly by volunteer attendance at Edinburgh 3 times every year and also by making annual donations to RARE towards the many administrative costs it faces.
The members of West Lakes were delighted to present RARE administrator, David Cockshell, the sum of $500 from the Club with our best wishes and admiration for the wonderful work undertaken by the RARE organization.

On Saturday 10 May, 6 members visited the RARE facility at Edinburgh to assist the regular volunteers in the many chores that are required to prepare the various equipment stored there for ongoing distribution to their overseas destinations.
While Andrew was busily scrub clearing, Alison Ros and Tracey were sorting and stacking towels and bedding from the haberdashery container. Meanwhile, Barry and Ken stacked medical equipment, before moving on to toys.
After their active morning, Alison, Tracey, Barry and Ken called in to the Slug and Lettuce Pub for a very enjoyable lunch.
