Once approved by the Board, this committee will move forward with purchasing a navy tablecloth featuring our club logo. This tablecloth will be used at BBQ and other events to enhance our club’s visibility and promote our image in the community.

Scott is away eating burgers and being indoctrinated (oh, and following the US elections!)
OTHER BUSINESS:
Club visits or notices from visiting Rotarians
Ros & Andrew attended RC Eastwood & RC Norwood movie night (End Polio)
This Sunday, Andrew & Ros would welcome some help in the Shed to organise BBQ/NRM and other stuff in preparation for a busy December. Please let them know.
Currently in Houston (will be in San Antonio at the time of Tuesdays meeting), having visited Dallas and Waco on the way.
Besides from a severe delay of my bus from Waco to Houston, everything has gone to plan.
Visited the Johnson Space Centre on Saturday, and will be attending the Houston Texans vs Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
I've attached a select few photos from the trip so far, including an unexpected Rotary mention.
I think that will do for now.
My next update will be the weekend before the election. Side note: due to my bus delays I very sadly missed Kamala Harris' rally in Houston the other night. Very sad.
Talk soon, hopefully all is going well and the club is functioning without my constant oversight.
Kind regards, Scott Anderson
Holding the Texas state flag in front of the Samuel Houston monument in Hermann Park, Houston. The tour guides from this tour were amazing, would highly recommend to anyone going to Houston.
(US indoctrination working well)
Dr Pepper museum in Waco, Texas. Shown is the 50 year Rotary service award to WW Clements, who is famous for building Dr Pepper into a national brand.
My first proper BBQ meal at Pappas in Houston. Couldn't finish it all, and the cup they give you to get your drink in would comfortably hold a cricket ball
The surviving Saturn rockets used in the Apollo missions, lined up. Literally unbelievable to see them
On behalf of the Grange SLSC I would like to thank you for the support and loan of the West Lakes Rotary Club BBQ trailer. Once again it was prepared by Westy perfectly and worked without any issue. It has been returned cleaned and both gas bottles are fresh swap and go ready for the next user.
The BBQ trailer made likely its greatest single distance travelled and was taken to the Morgan Caravan Park and set up in the unpowered site. The purpose of the trip was to have the Grange SLSC 2024 Seniors Sports Camp. The age groups went from 13 year to 65 years, with the majority in that younger group. We had a total of 105 persons on the camp. Your BBQ worked hard to feed all.
On Saturday: The Senior Ski paddling group were bussed to Hogsbend Road Reserve and paddled 29.8 kilometres back to the Morgan Caravan Park. The board padding group (the largest group) undertook a 11 kilometre paddle from the Graham Claxton Reserve (Cadell) to the Morgan Caravan Park.
Saturday afternoon was spent with team activities. In those important in between times most of the younger members spent hours fishing and catching the invasive carp. We ran a competition for the younger members on longest prizes including store vouchers and trophy.
The BBQ was well used for every meal. I have attached a number of photographs that you may wish to include at your next meeting.
Don't miss to this opportunity to mix, mingle and be inspired by Rotary Past President and Current Foundation Chair - Mark Maloney.
"If Rotary is a beautiful car that you are proud to drive, The Rotary Foundation is the engine that propels it to your chosen destination.
And it’s the strengths of Rotary — especially you and our other incredible 1.4 million members — that make The Rotary Foundation powerful.
Like many new members, I knew little about The Rotary Foundation when I joined Rotary. However, everything changed in 1985 when, as incoming president of my club, I attended my first Rotary International Convention with my wife, Gay, in Kansas City, Missouri.
We will never forget the thunderous support the audience showed for Dr. Albert Sabin, creator of the oral polio vaccine, who called upon Rotary to vaccinate the world’s children.
It marked the dawn of PolioPlus, a pivotal moment in Rotary’s commitment to children worldwide, and I was there!"
On Tuesday 29 October we will be fortunate to have City of Charles Sturt Mayor, Angela Evans speak to our meeting.
This will be a "partners" night and other Club members are more than welcome to attend (please let us know for catering purposes).

Key areas of interest include developing effective governance structures for Council, implementing long term financial stability, facilitating economic development, contributing to planning reform to position council as a leader, conducting effective community engagement and creating partnerships with other levels of government, the community and the private sector to better serve the Charles Sturt community.
I have experience in the business sector as a small business operator as well as extensive experience from working within the Community Service Sector.
The Club had loosely discussed the thought of getting a shade cloth installed over the playground. We would need Council assistance.
A couple of wandering members noticed that installation works are in progress! Not sure how this has happened, but ours is not to reason why...
Now there this a new covering of bark chips, so things are happening.
Jean is collating a list of those who would like pavers (inscribed with names) to be installed. We have to have a reasonable number (20-30) to make it cost effective. Please let Jean know.
