Secretary (Lyn)
  • Christmas Menu has been confirmed and will be emailed to members
Treasurer (Len)
  • Members to pay $50 per head with bottle red and white on each table. Club will cover the top up per head plus Kris Kringle to be donated to District Governors wife for her project.  Henley Beach Rotary Club will be joining us at $60 per head. Email to be sent to Treasurer at HBRC.
Community (Ros)
  • Thank you to volunteers for Carousel last weekend
  • Received a thank you from Tennyson Dunes for our donation
  • Thank you to Yvonne to cover Meals on Wheels
  • 4 December 2022 Kids at the Lake – drinks to be collected from Halfway Hotel; Gary in charge of food; to be confirmed if Ken can pick up van from Dimmy and to be confirmed if Robyn can pick up gear from our shed.
  • 11 December 2022 NRM have asked us to help them with a Xmas Party.
International  (Ken – apology)
  • No report.
Youth (Robin)
  • Westport Primary have been the first to respond regarding our annual “Dianne Parcel “Award and invited a representative of our club (Denis Ralph) to attend on 9 December (and at the same time present the two awardees their cheques).  
  • Science Experience – feedback from Jacqui – did not need our help this year as filled up quicker than expected.
Fundraising (Gary)
  • Coffee table sold for $950 and given back to us, but buyer want the club to keep the money.   Club to put $50 to it to make it $1000 and we buy equipment for Ronald McDonald House
  • Club logo in yellow is being made to be attached to the lectern
Vocation & Environment (Alison – apology)
  • Alison contacted Monarto Zoo regarding helping with fence painting
Guest Speaker and Other Activities (Neil – apology)
  • Refer to Newsletter.
Other Business
  • Grant in progress for $2500 from Mark Butler for new gazebos, printing Xmas Kids at the Lake and new tables and eskys

  • Nomination forms for RCWL office bearers for 202/23 given out

  • ALH cheque received for Kids on the Lake
  • Money to Len for Christmas dinner
Guest Speaker: Mathew Fisher, Head of Security, Adelaide Airport.
Mathew, and his co-presenter Adam), gave a comprehensive and lengthy talk about activities at Adelaide Airport.  This included significant current and future expansion of facilities.

Group Friendship Exchange - USA/Canada
District 9510 - Expressions of interest
 
Group Friendship Exchange (GFE) – Proposal - Mid 2023 or 2024 – North West USA/ South West Canada
 
 
Our District (9510) has received an enquiry from District 5080 (North West USA and Southern West Canada) regarding a possible Group Fellowship Exchange to USA/Can in Mid next year 2023 or in 2024.
 
A Rotary group from USA visited South Australia in 2019 (Hosted by RC Adelaide and RC Regency Park) have now offered a return trip to US/Can next year or 2024.
 
Expressions of Interest are being sought by 20 December 2022 from any Rotary member in District 9510 who may be interested in a GFE to US/Canada in mid 2023 or 2024.

Gourmet Gary’s: Ginger Caramel Sauce
 
Blowfly Corner
Serves: 4
Prep Time: 5 min. 
Cook Time: 30  min.. 
 

Ingredients:

100 gms

Brown sugar

½ cup

Thickened cream

40 gms

Unsalted butter

2 tbs

Crystalised ginger finely chopped

Directions:

1. Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and heat gently until butter and sugar melt. 

2. Increase heat to medium and bring to the boil simmering for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. 

3. Serve on top of ginger pudding with a dob of whipped cream.
