Community (Ros)
  • Thank you to all members volunteering at Tennyson Dunes on Sunday. $300 donation given to the Dunes, with us making $280
  • October 8 & 9 NRM Café Cart (refer folder to put your name down)
  • 4 December Kids on the Lake – please put your name down in folder
  • 11 December NRM Xmas Party
  • 13 December West Lakes Shore School BBQ clashes with Probus luncheon so limited cooks 
  • 21 January 2023 – Great Train Race celebrating with NRM, Bill’s Birthday at Semaphore Foreshore with a BBQ. Talk of public run against the train up to Fort Glanville.  Beyond Bank to assist with printing of certificates.
International & Foundation (Ken)
  • Ken on leave from 12 October – 3 December
  • National Youth Science Form.  The number of District applicants is currently about 30 with 60 places allocated for attendees.  About 85% of those 30 are female students, which may limit any social events.  Many students are reluctant to apply since the cost has remained high (approx. $2k) even though there will be no residential or travel costs to attend interstate.  The whole program will be conducted in Adelaide.
Youth (Robin – apology)
  • RYPEN – need to email the three applicants, two from St Michaels and one from Nazareth and advise Brenda who is taking lead as Robyn overseas.
Vocation & Environment (Alison)
  • Nothing to report on environmental
  • Blankets and quilts donated by Roxby Downs, Alison, and her mother.  Gary West to enquire if Ronald McDonald House is interested.
Other Business
  • Blurb from Ken re NYSF
  • February 20203 possibly meeting with Semaphore Surf Life Saving club at their place
  • Try to get a Grant in the future - $70,000 available for District Grants
  • Andrew sent all members link to Clubrunner and would appreciate any feedback

  • Thank you to the first timers volunteering at DIK last weekend

Gourmet Gary’s Apricot Brandy Balls
 
Blowfly Corner
 
Serves: 18
Prep Time: 20 min
Cooking Time: n/a
 
1 ½ cup
Dried apricot chopped
1 ½ cup
Dessicated coconut
½ cup 
Dry milk powder
¼ cup 
Oat bran
2 tbsp
Boiling water
2 tbsp
Sweetened condensed milk
75 mls
Brandy
 

Directions:

1. Place 1/2 cup coconut, apricots, milk powder and oat bran soaked in the boiling water in a processor and blend until smooth 

2. Add condensed milk and brandy and pulse until smooth then turn into a bowl and refrigerate for about 1 hour. 

3. Roll into 1 1/2 cm balls in your hands then roll in remainder of coconut to coat. 

4. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
