Unfortunately, despite asking for solutions, we were unable to find a work around for the usual timely interview and dinner process. This is two years in a row that we will not be sponsoring students for this amazing program.

2023-09 AVEO Haven visit
 Gallery item image 2
Twenty two members and friends visited the AVEO Haven Village at North Haven on Monday. They treated us to a morning tea, during which we received information on their units. Many questions were asked, enabling a clear understanding of the facilities and cost profile.

We visited an "inside" room, basically a bed-sitter. This was quite roomy, with a small kitchenette.

The "outside" 2 bedroom apartment provided some amenity for those wanting independence.

Thanks to Lyn for organising, and also members who brought along guests.

For our effort we will receive a $500 gift card which will assist in covering our fundraising bbq costs.

Watchhouse Wardrobe
“Watchhouse Wardrobe”
another Environmental initiative 😊

CLOTHES NEEDED FOR SATURDAY - BRING ALONG TO BARBARA'S PLACE FOR SORTING

We are looking for good quality clothing donations for our next Environmental project: “Watchhouse Wardrobe”.

Start checking out your un-wanted clothes (both men’s & women’s) to be donated to the watchhouses that need clothes for the perpetrators to wear into court etc.

Often times clothing worn during an offence are seized by police for investigative / evidentiary purposes leaving them with no clothing. Things like track suit pants (with cords removed) shirts, jumpers etc are always in demand.

Anything deemed not suitable for that cause can always be donated to CHATS as they now have a “shop” in Port Adelaide where the people in need of the area can get free clothing.

The Port Adelaide watchhouse has responded.

Clothing specifics:

  • No slogans or images that may be deemed offensive
  • Good quality & clean clothing
  • Any cords/ties etc. are to be removed (e.g. on tracksuit pants)
  • Polos for men are a good option

Thank you offering your services.

At this time we are providing unisex clothing e.g. t-shirts and trousers to the prisoners.

It would be appreciated if you can provide following items:

In response to your questions:

  • Do you require both male & female clothing?
We try to have a unisex clothes such as T-shirt, jumpers and pants.
    Sizes (S, M, L, XL)

  • Both tops & bottoms?
    Yes

  • Underwear & socks? (this would be new not recycled!)
    Socks only

  • Shoes?
    No

  • Children’s sizes as well?
    No

  • How would you prefer them sorted/packaged?
    By size

This project could be on-going as the need is continuous.  Also, we could engage other clubs in SA to do something similar as it is not a costly exercise – we just need to plant the seed within our district etc.
