MDIS joint Club dinner
Last Thursday before the Multi District Impact Summit, a joint dinner was held between the Rotary Clubs of Wyndham (D9800), and West Lakes (D9510).

Catering was in place for about 35, however we had a few no-shows from both Clubs.
Many salads provided by Club members - thank you.
~10 kg of boned lamb leg was roasted with minimal leftovers. Barbara and Steve provided chook wings as nibbles, plus there were a few snags cooked on the BBQ (in true Rotary style).

It was also good to see Club Friends: Carole & Mark Johns; and Leanne, Jeff and Kimberley Hobart who assisted in the Election BBQ a couple of weekends ago. It was an opportunity for us to thank them for their support.

It was a cool night with lots of chatting.

Thanks to the 6-7 members from Wyndham who attended, the other 3-4 were dog tired after driving over from Werribee.

Despite having over catered, we were able to donate $240 to End Polio Now!

PDG Julie is Foundation rep, and Gary (right) was the convenor/organiser for the MDIS

Vale Rotarian Brian Thomas, update
Brian's memorial/funeral service was held on Friday.

The centre was packed, with a strong attendance from RCWL members. Past members Lyn Grant, Kevern Kendle, Brenda Butler and Ian Miller were also in attendance, as was Club Sponsor Dimi Kyriazis of Golden North Icecreams.

It was a moving service, with addresses from each of Brian & Alison's 3 children and also some of their grandchildren. What was clear was that the family network was strong, a true reflection of Brian's character and values.

RIP Rotarian Brian Thomas

DAY 19 – KALBARRI TO SANDY CAPE 350KM

Wednesday 14th May

6am wake up, pack up camp, breakfast and we make our way along the coast heading for Sandy Cape. You will witness more of nature’s rugged beauty in the coastline and cliffs with a Great Australian Bight effect with the seas pounding away carving its impression…..

On the way we will stop off at the Pink Salt Lake to experience this phenomenon caused by a bacteria in the water then lunch on the foreshore in Geraldton

This day will include:

• The Pink Salt Lake

• Swimming if time allows

Breakfast -Lunch - Dinner – No Showers – Toilets

DAY 20 – SANDY CAPE

Thursday 15th May

Wake up time will be when your body feels too, however, Breakfast will be served at 8am until 9am …

This day will be your wind down time to reflect and spend time with Friends /Companions that you have journeyed with over the past 20 days , time to sign flags, a day of chilling out… just to be together and reflect, not just on this road trip but the journey from leaving your Family and Friends, spending time in another country, remembering the differences in cultures and how this has helped you grow and develop your mind set and experiences….

Preparing yourself for the return journey home …

Most important here, be kind and respectful to the guardian’s who have taken on this responsibility to care for you and have given you this chance. When you return as the joy and freeeeeedom on this Journey can let loose your bottled up inspiration to go wild,,,,

DAY 21 – SANDY CAPE TO PERTH 250KM

Friday 16th May

7am wake up, pack up camp and we are heading towards Perth via Jurien Bay and visiting the Pinnacles (Cervantes) to see the famous sculptures created by nature over millions of years. These amazing shapes that will keep you looking at the images coming out to grab your imagination…..

RCWL 1 TB Filing System
Files - who wants to keep and where are they?

Jean's shed, Peter's house, various computers etc.

PE Robin has agreed to be the conduit to save our files & memories into the Cloud. As part of our MicroSoft subscription we have a 1 terabyte (TB) cloud storage plan. 1 TB is a lot of data
[1,024 gigabytes (GB) or 1,099,511,627,776 bytes, whatever they are].

The Board are the guinea pigs, and have received a link to gain access to the New RCWL Storage Filing System.

They will commence “Moving” any files on personal computers to the RCWL system.

It is important that the main filing storage is on the Cloud as personal PC can fail. It is also important that Club Documents and Photos are not ‘lost’

Attached is a current screen shot of the filing system so far.

It is possible to add appropriate directories as needed. For example, if you have files that are to be determined later, they can be saved (Under your name) in the Directory “To Be Sorted”. Other Photos and Documents can be stored in the appropriate directory.

Robin envisages that documents currently in ClubRunner can be transferred to the new system. This is a medium-term goal.

All members are encouraged to gather any Files or Photos on to a USB and bring in to each meeting so that they can be uploaded to the storage system.

This will be a great benefit for our Club moving forward and will also assist the 50 year committee research.

If you are unsure how to put your files on a USB please see Robin, (or perhaps a grandchild).

After the electronic files are collected we will then discuss gathering Old physical Documents  and photos and how to convert them to electronic storage.

Please remember, (to facilitate return of your USB), bring your files in on Tuesday night with your name attached to the USB

Robin is available to assist anyone who may have data/files that need to be transferred.

Well done Robin!
