Service Above Self

Welcome

The Rotary Club of West Lakes, led ably by President Robin Weissel, is dedicated to making a real, measurable impact, both locally and globally.

With over seven years of Rotary service, Robin brings a clear vision - to empower communities through sustainable projects that create long-term change. He believes in moving beyond one-off donations to focus on support that builds skills, resilience and opportunity.

This Rotary year, our focus is on achieving tangible results in projects where we can see the difference we are making, whether it is helping local families or transforming lives overseas.

We invite you to explore our work, join an event and be part of something that truly matters. Welcome to the Rotary Club of West Lakes, where service leads to lasting change.

International Project 2025

How our club thought outside the box and made an international project happen.

When our club was decided to send a recovered playground to the Philippines, it felt like too big a task for our ageing membership. Funding, logistics and especially the physical challenge of loading a container seemed impossible.
The turning point came when we partnered with a team of young missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their enthusiasm and energy transformed the project. Over five weekends of preparation, and with 16 missionaries joining us on the final day, a 20-foot container was packed to the brim with school uniforms, desks, books, toys, medical equipment and playground gear. It is now on its way to Manila to make a real difference for children and families.
This project has reinvigorated our members and reminded us that no club is “too old” or “too small” to dream big. With creativity, persistence and the right partnerships, anything is possible.

Advice for other clubs:
  • Don’t let age or size stop you—partner with others for support
  • Be open to unexpected helpers in your community
  • Keep going, even after setbacks
  • Celebrate success—it inspires others to act
